Beyond the goats
Garden Produce
The first project we took on when we moved to this property was to put in the garden. It has been a challenge with clay-heavy soil and several big black walnut trees surrounding the perimeter, but each year it gets better. The goats and chickens make lots of nice fertilizer. Our garden is fed with only manure produced on farm, water, and sunlight.

The Flock
The next stop we made the spring we moved was to get some chicks to start our flock of laying hens. We like to free range, but predators have been a challenge. We try to keep at least a dozen or so hens and a rooster at any given time.

The indoor critters
Our pets are all from local rescues. We love our shepherd mix pups–they are all cuddly couch potatoes but enjoy running around the property and ensuring the safety of our flock and herd, too.

Cottage Baked Goods
I have long been a baker of all sorts of other goodies, too, and successfully sold at downtown markets. If you are local and interested in purchasing baked goods, let me know!

I was baking sourdough before it became popular and many years pre-pandemic. My starter is named Esther.

Fiber Arts
I like to call myself the crafty chemist. I am an artist at heart, and I have especially found that I love crafting with fiber. I learned to crochet when I was probably 8 years old and most recently started spinning yarn. Part of my commitment to local businesses and environmental stewardship is my involvment with our local Fibershed–Fibershed Heartland. Starting about a year ago, all of my work is done with local fleece purchased from area farmers.
